The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts has launched the 2019 Annual Awards of Excellence (AAE) and Robert Welch Designs are delighted to offer our support. As an Associate Member of the Royal Academy, Robert Welch Designs have long supported the development of young professionals and are proud to support the AAE.

The Annual Awards of Excellence (AAE), established in 1983, are the most prestigious awards available to young people in the hospitality industry today. By recognising the most talented up and coming chefs, pastry chefs and waiters, these remain the only awards to cover all three categories of kitchen, pastry and service.

Launched at l’Escargot in London’s Soho by the Ritz’s Head Chef, John Williams MBE, Chairman of the Royal Academy, who said: “The Annual Awards of Excellence are the most prestigious awards available to young professionals in the hospitality industry today, recognising and encouraging the most talented and ambitious Chefs, Pastry Chefs and Waiters.”

Who can enter?

Young people (aged 20-26) and working full-time in the UK as chefs, pastry chefs or waiters. Each entrant must submit an essay and (for chefs) a recipe ahead of a skills test within each discipline. The Robert Welch team would encourage all chefs and restauranteurs to enable and support all talented young professionals in their establishments to enter.
